A small chia seed contains a lot of good things: plenty of omega-3 fatty acids, a good amount of fiber, and a lot of protein. No wonder that in the Maya Indian language the word “chia” means power and strength. The taste of chia seeds is completely neutral, so they are suitable for bread dough, porridge, smoothies, and baked goods to enrich the diet. Chia seeds absorb a lot of liquid, so use more liquid than the recipe states when adding them, e.g. to dough, or soak the chia seeds in water for 20 minutes before use.
